The Big Sur House

Let me preface this post by saying the Christmas decor in our Big Sur home is simple. Getting Christmas to Big Sur is a bit more complicated. This will be our first Christmas here! Two car loads later (three if you count the trip with the tree stuffed in my tiny Prius), and we’re ready for the holidays!

Naked little Christmas tree…

I have never been an over the top kind of gal when it comes to Christmas decor, and even less so here in Big Sur. With all of the natural beauty surrounding us, it seemed fitting to go a simpler, more organic route. A real tree with simple decorations, driftwood trees, two wreaths, and a whole lot of pinecones found right here in Big Sur. It’s just enough.

Welcome!

A cozy throw from Pottery Barn, a driftwood tree, and some bleached Big Sur pinecones are some of my simple holiday touches.

I would have liked a little taller tree but until I get a bigger car up here, this is the biggest I can squeeze into my Prius. It’s top was on the dashboard! I love lots of white lights on our tree, but sometimes they can be too bright so I always plug them into a dimmer…easy to adjust the light and also to turn them on and off!

A sweet little tree from Botanik and a pinecone are just enough for this little vintage stool from Porch.

Mornings are my favorite time of day. I make myself a cup of tea, turn on the stove/fireplace, and watch Big Sur come alive…

Worth rising early for this!

You won’t find tons of bright Christmas lights or over the top outdoor decorations in Big Sur, all the better to see the starry nights. However, I did add a few twinkle lights…

I will be back with a new blog post in two weeks to enjoy some family time. Wishing you all peace and joy this Christmas and a happy healthy 2019!
