Instagrammer we love: edb designs by homedeco

June 23, 2016

As many of you might know, I’ve spent this week helping my parents with their new farmhouse in Vermont. How lucky am I to have parents who still hike, ski, and build houses? They decided that it was time for a change and sold their little place in Vermont and got right to work on building a new abode in East Rupert. After selling group insurance for 16 years from 1966-1981 (and working in the World Trade Center when it opened in 1973) my dad decided to pursue his dream of becoming a builder. And what beautiful houses he has built. Sitting upon 12 beautiful acres, their newest house may be my favorite one yet.

While it’s still under construction (we at least got the bathroom doors put in on my second day there) and the 90 degree nights (with no AC yet) have been interesting, the designing, decorating, and plan-making have been a blast. It’s been such a joy getting to work alongside my incredibly talented parents as they make this new house their home. I’m looking forward to sharing the progress with you all. Stay tuned for photos!

Anyway, because I’ve been on the road (en route to CT now and then back to Santa Barbara) with limited Internet, I wanted to share an article with you by the talented Tess of homedeco…apparently she thought I was interesting enough to interview and I’m so honored that she took the time to feature my Instagram. Hi! I wanted to tell you how much I love your home. It’s so gorgeous and your style is fantastic. And yes, you are so lucky to have such amazing parents! I wanted to ask you about your drapes – are they custom or do you mind sharing your source? I love the color band at the bottom. I have so much white in my home, I’m thinking of this type of drape for some added interest. Thanks so much! xo

Hi Karen. Thank you for your lovely comment. If you can believe it the previous owners left them for me! Because the ceiling is 12 feet tall over the French doors, she bought some simple white drapes and then attached a band of linen material to the bottom to get the right length. Super simple…they’re not even lined. I love them. I say simple if you know how to sew which sadly I do not! 🙂

Oh that’s so cool…I actually did the same thing in a previous home. I think I might try it again. Your 12 ft windows are to die for by the way. Thanks so much for your answer! Have a great day! xo
